About Us

• The charitable Trust SARAS TRUST, OOTY was started on 24^th May 1999.
• Most of its trustees had worked in  Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda  Kendra, Kanyakumari for more than two decades.
• Inspired by the popular message of Swami Vivekananda “Service to humanity is service to Divinity”
• Smt. Vasantha Kumari, present Managing Trustee has been the pillar of the organization whose contribution to the present level of growth is laudable.  
• The adviser of the Trust, Shri  P.R. Anbazhakan, a retired  Director of  HelpAge India has been a constant source of guidance and support.

Awards, Rewards &  Recognitions

• Received the best social worker Award from the then Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Selvi J Jayalalitha on 15.08.2013.
• Saras Trust was nominated as a member of the National council for senior citizens for three years by the MSJE New Delhi.
• Saras trust is a member of various District Level Committees as following:
  1. 1. Committee for the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and  Senior citizens Act 2007.
  2. 2. Redressal committee of sexual harassment of working women in AIR, Ooty, Coonoor Tea Board, Medical and Rural Health service, etc.
  3. 3. District Juvenile Justice Board
  4. 4. Service provider for women and girls under the Domestic violence Act.
